TARIFF DISPUTES

Tariff/Duty Dispute Assistance

We are very sorry that you've been affected by an error by the courier on the import paperwork for your Easy Sled kit.  We do everything we can to avoid this, but couriers process millions of packages a day and since they don't invest significant time into each package - it occasionally results in billing errors.  That said, we are happy to help with information & guidance to resolve these issues, but the leg work must be done by the importer(you).  We have prepared the information below to provide the info you will require to resolve the error with the courier.

Based on current tariff info (as of Dec 18, 2025), the charges should be approximately ~$35 to 45 USD in tariffs (varies slightly with exchange rate), plus a ~$20-25 USD Admin fee from the courier to process the import paperwork on your behalf. See the sample cost breakdown in item #1 below.

  1. Contact UPS Customer Service to request a "Ratings Sheet" from UPS to see the breakdown of charges

    • They may say that they cannot provide a detailed breakdown until it's paid, but you are rightfully entitled to understand what you are paying for BEFORE paying.  You may need to push them on this

    • Sample detailed breakdown of charges from a recent customers order: Duty/Tariff Invoice w/Cost Breakdown

  2. Verify the details

    • Tariffs should only be charged against the products in the order, ie: the cost of the kit(s) or accessories ordered

    • Carriers sometimes include the shipping cost in the tariff calculation, however shipping costs are not applicable to tariffs/fees.

  3. Ensure they've classified it correctly

    • It should be classified as an "aluminum luggage rack", using Tariff/HS code: 76169910

    • Tariffs should be applied at a rate of 50%

      • Some customers have been charged 200% as UPS unanimously indicates that the aluminum came from Russia (it definitely does not) - the USMCA form near the bottom of this page will clarify that.

    • This is the US Government site which shows the current tariffs on that HS Code: https://hts.usitc.gov/search?query=76169910

    • This is a tariff calculator that is loaded with all the details that we include on the Import paperwork: Tariff Simulator

      • This calculator is a reference only and may or may not work at all times - it may occasionally be inaccurate

  4. If UPS is requesting a Section 232 OR USMCA form

    • If they are seeking a Section 232 from, that can be found here: UPS_Section232_Filled.pdf

    • If they are seeking info on the Aluminum source (USMCA form) that can be found here: USMCA_Form

Hopefully this helps you navigate the dispute, but please keep us in the loop as you progress and we'll happily provide as much info as we can to help.
